Favorite photo sets in 2022 - Part 1
I am going to be sharing a couple of my favorite photos from a set that I captured in my first year as a freelance photographer. In addition to that I will be sharing a small story about the image.
I flew to Pebble Beach specifically to see Pound for Pound Champion Canelo Alvarez. I rented the best lens money can buy for sports, I got in the plane and off I went. I booked a 2 day stay in Monterey, which meant that I was on limited time. First day started at 1pm since that is when I was able to get to the course from flying into San Jose. As the first day continued and I roamed the course till dark, I was unable to find Canelo.
Second day started at 6am to get in as much as I could since I would be flying out that afternoon. I roamed the course for an hour after breakfast, and as I was thinking about leaving the course. Boom, there he walks in with no entourage, no security just his golf team. Seeing him in person for the first time after being a fan for many years it felt weird/ surreal. He said hello, signed autographs, it was inspirational to see a highly regarded Mexican athlete in a space that is primarily non poc.
I then continued to follow him through the rest of the course and saw him through a couple of combinations on the course. He then went off to have a great rest of the tournament and I went home to some one of kind memories.
